Getting Started
The basics of finding your way around Compass.
1. Pick your terminal
Compass is multi-terminal: every physical terminal (a specific quay, yard, gate and equipment setup) has its own URL space and its own subset of modules enabled. Once you're inside a terminal, everything you see — sidebar, dashboards, KPIs — is scoped to that terminal's own data.
2. Read the sidebar
The left sidebar groups modules the same way this documentation does: a top-level entry per module (Quay, Yard, Gate, CHE, …), each with its own icon, expanding into the individual dashboards ("tabs") inside it. Only modules enabled for your current terminal appear — if you don't see a module described in these docs, it isn't turned on for that terminal.
3. Dashboards and KPI cards
Most pages are made of KPI cards and charts refreshed from live or historical data. Many cards have a small help/info icon in their corner — clicking it opens a contextual help panel on the right with documentation for exactly that card or view, pulled from Page Reference. That panel also has an "open in full docs" shortcut if you want to read the full reference page.
4. Light / dark theme
Compass follows your preferred color theme and can be switched from the app's theme control at any time — layouts, charts, and these docs all adapt.
Where to go next
- Skim the module pages in the sidebar to understand what each area of the business Compass covers.
- When you need specifics on a particular dashboard, view, or KPI, use Page Reference — it's dynamic, page-by-page documentation maintained alongside the product itself.
